Numerical study of opposed zero-net-mass-flow jet-induced erythrocyte mechanoporation

Abstract With the advantages of biosafety and efficiency, increasing attention has been paid to devices for gene macromolecular drug delivery based on mechanoporation. The transient pore formation cell membrane allows cargo transportation when areal strain is beyond critical value below lysis tension threshold. Based this principle, we propose a method apply proper fluid stress cells moving in microchannel under action zero-net-mass-flux (ZNMF) jets. In study, an immersed finite element (IFEM) adopted simulate interaction between fields so as investigate movement deformation mechanoporation system. To evaluate efficiency delivery, integral defined mean rate passes through jet region. By analyzing effects parameters, including pressure gradient along microchannel, amplitude, frequency, integrals, group optimized parameters are obtained. Additionally, stability safety system analyzed detail. These results helpful designing improving their delivery.
